How to look after your solar panels

Once you have had solar panels installed by a Solar Panels Gloucester company, you will want to ensure that you are looking after them. Not only do these panels help to reduce your carbon footprint, they can also help to reduce your energy bills. It is vital, however, that you undertake proper maintenance.

Cleaning: Dust, dirt and leaves can accumulate on and around your solar panels. This can cause them to not function as efficiently as they should. In order to keep them clean, you should regularly clean them with soapy water and a soft brush. Make sure to rinse them thoroughly to ensure you don’t leave any soapy residue behind.

Damage: after periods of extreme weather, you should check your solar panels for any damage. Cracks and chips can again affect the efficiency of your solar panels, and this will, in turn, mean you are likely to be gaining less energy than you should.

Birds: make sure to check that you don’t have any birds or other animals nesting underneath or around your solar panels. If you regularly have birds trying to nest in the area, you could look at installing some bird boxes that they might be attracted to instead.

By following these steps and maintaining your solar panels properly, you can ensure they continue to operate efficiently. A well-cared-for solar panel system can last for decades, making it a sustainable and cost-effective choice for your energy needs.
