Healthy Home Designs was founded in 1994 by Linda Mason Hunter, author of The Healthy Home: An Attic To Basement Guide To Toxin Free Living. The success of her groundbreaking book identified the need for readily available home plans that included healthy construction specifications. One of these home plans, “Maple Forest”, was featured in an eight-part television series on the PBS program Hometime, as well as in national magazines such as Fine HomeBuilding and Better Homes and Gardens. Linda lectured on the importance of healthy homes throughout the country and appeared on numerous radio and television programs, including CNN’s “Daybreak”, EarthWatch”, and ABC’s “Good Morning, America”.
Christi Graham – CEO
In 2000, Healthy Home Designs was acquired by Christi Graham, an environmental home inspector and long-time advocate for safe, healthy and aesthetic lifestyles. Ms. Graham co-founded and directed the Green Resource Center in Berkeley, CA, one of the first resource centers of its kind in the nation, providing tools for sustainable building. Christi serves on the Board of Directors for the Northern California Chapter of Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR), the Green Resource Center and the GreenTeam Project. Ms. Graham co-founded the annual “Green Materials Showcase,” the largest tradeshow highlighting alternative building materials and technologies on the West Coast, and is a contributing author of ADPSR’s Architectural Resource Guide. Christi received her Environmental Inspector certificate from the German-based International Institute for Bau-Biologie and Ecology.
Ms. Graham’s affinity for architecture stems from an historic family connection that includes her Grandfather Frank Graham and her Great Uncle Ernest Graham. Ernest Graham, a prominent Chicago architect, was a protg of Daniel Burnham and helped D.H. Burnham & Co. achieve national prominence. Later, Ernest carried on Burnham’s architectural practice as Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White, which became one of the largest and most prestigious firms during the turn of the century in the United States. This revolutionary architecture firm was responsible for designing such notable landmarks as the Civic Opera Building, the Wrigley Building and Chicago Union Station.
Today, Christi is honored to be involved in this newest architectural revolution — of bringing environmental and health interests together in one integrated design.
